I have struggled with food most of my life. What foods to eat, how much to eat, when to eat, you name it I have never been able to figure it out. Back when I weighted almost 170 lbs I remember trying to count calories, but I was awful at it. Numbers quite frankly scare me! Then came the 21 Day Fix and the cute color coded portion controlled food system that took the guess work right out of it for me. Today I am going to give you the 21 Day Fix Review – going to be honest about what I think about this program.
To Fix or Not to Fix!
The 21 Day Fix is a program of 30 minute workouts for 21 days straight. This program is perfect for every fitness level type and the program does a great job at hitting every muscle area. What I love most about the 21 Day Fix is how the workouts are only 30 minutes a day. As a mom of three kids my days are extremely busy and I do not have hours and hours to workout so 30 minutes a day is very DOABLE! More than the workouts themselves I am in LOVE with the portion control system. I thought I was eating good foods, but what I learned is that I ate too many carbs and when I did eat better I was eating too much. I love that now I know how much I should really be consuming thanks to the easy use of the color coded containers.
Who created the 21 Day Fix?
Autumn Calabrese who is a trainer and bikini competitor created the 21 Day Fix. I got to hear her at a Q & A in Vegas this past June and after listening to her talk about how the 21 Day Fix came about I grew to love her even more. Autumn is a single mom who had been using her program (called a different name) with her clients she worked with. One of her friends happened to share her meal plan idea with an overweight executive at Sony Records thinking he could benefit from it and lose weight. He was so impressed with Autumn’s program that he made a call to Carl at Beachbody – one phone call and one meeting later the 21 Day Fix was born. Autumn is just a regular mom like you and me, and was living paycheck to paycheck, but now her amazing creation is ready for all to use.
The 21 Day Fix exercise program consists of 2 DVDs that have 3 workouts out (6 in total). Each workout crafts certain muscle groups to deliver a “massive calorie burn” in just 30 minutes. Every workout is different and increases in difficulty from the previous workout and Kat is an amazing modifier who looks like a REAL everyday woman. You can do as much intensity with this program as you want or just start out slow.
The first 15 days consists of doing 1 workout/day, then on the last week you can do the double : one workout in the morning and another in the evening.
- Total Body Cardio Fix. Rises your heart rate, boost your metabolism into overdrive for long-lasting weight loss benefits.
- Upper Fix. Specifically works the back, shoulders, arms, chest and abs for a great swimsuit body.
- Lower Fix. Works the thighs, calves and butt for the rest of your beach-ready body.
- Pilates Fix. Uses core strength moves to tone and elongate the torso and tighten up your thighs, butt and hips.
- Cardio Fix. Insanity cardio workout that kicks the first workout into overdrive.
- Yoga Fix. Boosts flexibility and relaxes your muscles to keep them in perfect tone.
My favorite workouts in the 21 Day Fix are the Lower Fix and Pilates because they really make me work for my burn. I love how they are only 30 minutes a day and I personally saw great results from this program.
The Meal Plan:
The 21 Day Fix makes clean eating easy by using the color coded meal containers and a Shakeology shaker cup for no second guessing. This eating plan is not a “diet” it is a lifestyle change and is very flexible.

- Red Container: For proteins
- Yellow Container: For carbohydrates

I love this program because it is so easy to use, I love that I do not have to count calories anymore and that the containers make it super easy for me to know the portions of foods I am allowed. I love that there is no “diet” in this plan, you can have coffee, tea, and if you want pizza and wine you can have it too, but it just means more containers get taken away. This container system is one of the main reasons I think the 21 Day Fix is an amazing workout system. Not only do you get Autumn’s amazing workouts, but if you struggle with food then this is the package for you.
This is a lifestyle change not just a workout program.
